Where to find bowel cancer screening information

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme

When the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) began in England in 2006 several websites were set up to help deliver the programme.

Over the last 5 years, PHE Screening has been working hard to align all screening content online, which has meant closing some old websites and moving the information elsewhere. Today’s blog is about the closing of the BCSP extranet website (www.bcsp.nhs.uk).

Where the information has gone

As part of this piece of work, we wanted to update you on where to find BCSP information online.

GOV.UK

Most information for people working in the BCSP is available on GOV.UK. This includes:

Blog

If you are interested in BCSP news, you should bookmark the BCSP category on our PHE screening blog. You can subscribe to the blog to get regular e-mails about all population screening programmes.

National IT system: user guides, contacts and training

You can find IT system user guides and the system training schedule on the Bowel Cancer Screening System (BCSS) front page, under the “links and downloads” section. This is only available on an N3 connection. If you have access to the system you’ll be able to get hold of all the contacts you need.

Archived information

You can also access the archive of information from when the BCSP section of the cancer screening website closed in 2015.

For any archive documentation from the BCSP extranet please contact us via the Screening Helpdesk.

Information for the public

If you are a member of the public interested in the BCSP, read about the programme on NHS.UK (formerly NHS Choices).

PHE Screening blogs

PHE Screening blogs provide up to date news from all NHS screening programmes. You can register to receive updates direct to your inbox, so there’s no need to keep checking for new blogs.
