Get ready for our new national screening print provider

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: General information

The national service specifications for screening require local screening providers to use our nationally developed leaflets for the public and professionals.

PHE Screening prints and supplies copies of most of these leaflets free of charge to the NHS trusts and private companies that provide NHS screening.

As we mentioned in a previous blog, a new supplier, APS Group, will take over the national printing, storage and distribution of these leaflets at the beginning of April.

During the final 2 weeks of March, we will move all our leaflets from our current supplier, Harlow Printing Ltd, to APS. But don’t worry, you will still be able to order leaflets online during this period and APS will be able to start distributing leaflets from the start of April. So there’ll be no need to stockpile!

Upcoming deadlines

Friday, 16 March: final date that Harlow will accept leaflet orders.

Saturday, 17 March to Sunday, 1 April: stock will be transferred from Harlow to APS.

Monday, 19 March onwards: APS online order website will go live, linked to from GOV.UK, allowing screening providers to continue to order leaflets.

Monday, 2 April, 2018: APS will start distributing PHE Screening leaflets.

We provide a variety of printed leaflets to local screening providers free of charge

Local screening providers will be able to set up standing orders for regular leaflet deliveries from APS in the same way they have done with Harlow. We will explain how to do this in a blog next month before the new provider takes over.

Leaflet order restrictions

Anyone ordering leaflets for free must be able to confirm they:

  • are an NHS or private provider of NHS screening programmes in England
  • use the leaflets according to the NHS England screening service specifications as part of the standard screening pathway
  • only use one  leaflet per individual per screening appointment or result
  • do not stockpile leaflets or order more than 6 months’ supply as we update and review our leaflets regularly

We do not provide free leaflets for promotional purposes and campaigns, or for other organisations, but it will be possible to pay for them by contacting the national print provider.

If you have any questions about the transition to a new national screening print provider, please email the PHE Screening helpdesk.
