The next sickle cell and thalassaemia screening and King’s College specialist counsellor’s update day will be on 8 December 2021

The PHE sickle cell and thalassaemia (SCT) screening team is pleased to announce a new date for the very popular specialist counsellor update course – 8 December 2021.

The course is delivered by King’s College London, funded by the national SCT screening programme team and is free to attend.

It is aimed at those who:

  • have already completed the Genetic risk assessment and counselling module or the PEGASUS course, and
  • are responsible for counselling women and couples at risk of having an affected baby as part of the NHS SCT Screening Programme – this includes the offer of prenatal diagnosis and/or giving results to parent(s) who have given birth to an affected child

How to apply

Apply via King’s College London’s application page. Please contact Jessamy Wilson-Pepper with any queries.

In previous years, the update days have received enthusiastic feedback from our students. In 2019 some comments included:

This course will be invaluable.
