New training for child school vision screeners
We’re delighted to announce the launch of a new e-learning training package for vision screeners.
Dr Alison Bruce is director of vision research for Born in Bradford at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and has significant experience as an orthoptist.
She was head of service for several years and introduced an orthoptic delivered screening programme for 4 to 5-year-old children which has been in place in Bradford for more than 20 years.
In addition to her current role, Dr Bruce is co-lead for the British and Irish Orthoptic Society Vision Screening Clinical Advisory Group.

Public Health England (PHE) existed to protect and improve the nation’s health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities. It closed on 30 September 2021 and this blog is no longer updated.
